Business Canalys: Apple''s smartphone shipments will account for 22% of the global total in Q4 2021

According to the latest report of Canalys, due to strong consumer demand for the iPhone 13, Apple’s smartphone shipments in the fourth quarter of 2021 accounted for 22% of the global total, regaining the crown of the global smartphone market. Samsung came in second, slipping from the top spot in the third quarter of 2021, with a 20% market share. Xiaomi remains in third place with a market share of 12%. Both OPPO and vivo entered the top five with market shares of 9% and 8%, respectively.

Canalys analyst Sanyam Chaurasia said: "Apple has returned to No. 1 in the smartphone market after three quarters, driven by the strong performance of the iPhone 13.  Apple''s supply chain is starting to recover, but it still had to cut production in the fourth quarter due to shortages of key components. This preventing Apple from producing enough iPhones to meet market demand. In priority markets , Apple was able to maintain appropriate delivery times, while in some markets customers had to wait a long time to get their hands on the latest iPhone."
