Business Global 5G Android smartphone shipments will reach 95 million in Q2 2021

The latest research report released by Strategy Analytics pointed out that in Q2 of 2021, global 5G Android smartphone shipments will be 95 million, with Xiaomi leading the 5G Android smartphone market with a 26% market share and 24 million shipments.

Ken Hyers, Director of Strategy Analytics, pointed out: "In Q1 of 2019, Samsung launched the world''s first 5G smartphone. In the following ten quarters, its 5G smartphone shipments totaled 77 million units. Xiaomi''s performance is closely behind Samsung, which has shipped 70 million 5G smartphones in the past nine quarters. "Ville-Petteri Ukonaho, deputy director of Strategy Analytics, said: "Huawei is still the leader in 5G smartphones among manufacturers of Android operating systems. In the past nine quarters, Huawei''s global shipments of 5G smartphones were 95 million. Still, recently, due to the 5G technology ban imposed by the United States, its shipments have fallen sharply. This opened the door for other Chinese manufacturers, including Lenovo-Motorola, Realme, OPPO, and Honor. "

Strategy Analytics senior analyst Wu Yiwen pointed out: "Lenovo Motorola is the leader in the growth of 5G smartphones; in Q2 of 2021, its 5G smartphone shipments increased by 3480% year-on-year to 1.8 million units. Realme''s global 5G smartphone shipments increased by 1773% year on year, and the growth rate ranked second. Another Chinese manufacturer, OnePlus, had a year-on-year shipment growth of 877% in the quarter, ranking third in growth rate. At the same time, Honor has shipped 6.5 million 5G smartphones in just two quarters. Considering that Honor only started selling 5G smartphones in Q1 2021, this number is impressive. "

Wu Yiwen added: "Lenovo-Motorola, Realme, OnePlus and Honor, the four 5G smartphone manufacturers, will achieve strong growth in the second half of 2021 and 2022, as they focus on markets and market segments such as mid-priced 5G smartphones, these markets, and market segments are not completely dominated by their large competitors."
